Fine Distinction

This morning when I was getting dressed, Ellis commented:

"Mommy, that skirt looks fat."

I said, "Thanks a lot. Good to know that you think I look fat."

"No, Mommy. Not you. The skirt."

A distinction, to be sure, but...
