Today is National Grammar Day.
[And yes, I intended my title to be a sentence telling you to march forward. Just a little fun with today's date.]
This is a day to ask you for forgiveness. For all the LIBERTIES I take with the English language. For all the errors I make, known and unknown. For plain and simple typos.
This is also a day to see the great IRONY. Where I often miss my own mistakes--people actually PAY me to find and correct their errors. [and rumor has it that I don't totally stink at my job...]
So, to which style guide to do you adhere? Chicago? AP? Another? Because, my friends, even grammar and punctuation are not as straight forward as you might have thought and been taught. It is debated. It is constantly changing. Have you seen the words they are including in the dictionary these days?
So for my blog, I will speak in my own voice. My own style guide. If my errors go against your sensibilities, forgive me.
And then try to lighten up.
