I would like to extend a heart felt "Thank You" to American soldiers, Past and Present.I feel so blessed to be an American. To have the right to vote, even if I don't like the outcome. To be able to voice my opinion. To be able to teach my children about the love of Christ, without fear.
It is too easy to take these things for granted. And although many choose to forget, these privileges that we enjoy were paid for with many lives and much sacrifice. And we have not established a world that can do without men and women working to guard these privileges for us.
So, thank you.
On a slightly lighter note, Chase asked about the flags in the cemetery today. So we were talking about Veteran's Day. I wondered if Chase was getting it, or if it was all over her head. I asked her to explain it back to me.
Here is her take: "Veteran's day is a day to say thank you to the good guys, like the Army and good fighters that help us live in a nice country. They stop the bad guys, like the terrorists and the White Witch... they have big battles... you know, like in Narnia - just not with the Centaurs."
Um, perhap C.S. Lewis is a bit deep for a five year old. She may be missing the whole "fantasy" part of things.
So thank you Veterans. For conquering the White Witch. And taking on the terrorists. And everything else that makes America a pretty great place to live.
