Drama Club

Our household was winning the Drama Club prize yesterday.

In the morning, Chase gave us a full dose when getting ready for school.

Then I had to take Ellis in to have a cavity filled. She gave me a full dose AFTER the fact. 2 hours of crying and spitting.

And the new baby must have been feeling left out.

I had been contracting since we were at the dentist, but that is not really anything new. But these were really strong, painful, about 3 minutes apart (also nothing new) and lasting for 1-2 minutes (usually they are short about 30 sec.) each. I thought that if I just drank enough water and rested that they would ease up.

They did not.

So I called the Doctor and she told me to come in and be checked. From there, she sent me to the hospital to be monitored. She wanted me to get a shot of Terbutaline to settle things down and decided that I was a candidate for the oral medication to control the contracting (Same medication that I was on from 33-36 weeks with Ellis. Also, the same medication that this doctor told me was antiquated and rarely used any more. Hm.)

So I got to spend my afternoon and evening at Hillcrest Hospital. They were never able to stop the contractions, but were able to get them to ease up and get irregular. I did dilate over the course of the afternoon to an external 2.5/internal 1cm, but my cervix is still long-- so they sent me home with the oral medication. No bed rest necessary. Just told to be "reasonable" in my choice of activities.

That is such a subjective thing... thank goodness my brother-in-law came this week and cleaned my gutters... I won't be tempted to head up on the roof and do it myself!*

*Even I know that would not be reasonable. Although there are some of you, who rightly so, would know that I might be tempted.

I think your gutter-cleaning days are over until this spring! 2.5 cm worries me, but I'm no Dr....Your body just seems to prefer early evictions when it comes to babies.
