Fickle

Girls are allowed to change their minds. Rumor has it that we are fickle* by nature.

You may remember that last month Ellis was admonishing me because I doubted her ability to read the color on the crayon.

This week she yelled at Mark when he "accused" her of being able to read.

She was sitting at the table looking over some birthday cards**.

E: "Daddy, see here, this says "cat" and this says "Mom" and this says "flower."
D: "What good reading! What other words can you read?"
E: "I CAN'T read!!! But I know how to WRITE a lot of words."
D: "But you didn't write those words. But you know them. That is reading."
E: "I really don't think so Daddy. What do YOU know about reading."

** I can hardly believe that Ellis is now five. Sigh. And already thinks that she knows more than everyone. Even if that means knowing that she doesn't know.
