Records are meant to be broken

Most of you know [but there may be a few of you that don't] that Mark has held the North American Road Record for 24 hours [163 miles] for the past 11 years.

Last night, that record was broken.

Mark's friend Scott Jurek ran 165 miles in 24 hours at the World Championship in France. Scott has been featured in many magazines and even the now popular book Born to Run. [I found this book very interesting, but not sure if that is because I personally know most of the "players." It certainly adds a different layer to a read when the character has slept on your couch, or you've been drinking with them!]

It is bittersweet.

And I am just hoping that Mark doesn't decided he needs another record.

I think it is a testament that it has taken so long to break that record, and that when it did get broken it wasn't by much at all. It's definitely something to say you hold or have held a national record and that can't be taken away from Mark.
