We enjoyed Disney on Ice. It still holds a lot of its magic, even for grown-up. But I did spend a lot of my evening wondering how the skaters describe their jobs. [ Yep, I have a great job. Laughing Hyena and Pumba. Sure, no one ever sees my face, and it's hot inside those masks, but it was always my dream...] So here's my report.
Sure there are some weird moments... Talking cars driving around, Mermaids with 2 tails [I thought the costume looked weird, but how are you going to let her skate?], thistle plants [Tinkerbelle] that looked like artichokes, and the 6 minute stampede from Lion King [Ellis started asking to go home during that one.]
But it had some great moments, too! The fish from Little Mermaid were beautiful and Sebastian made the girls laugh, Rafiki's, the baboon, costume was amazing, including his big blue bottom! Pumba's costume was also great, but I felt badly for the skater that was obviously skating on hands and feet! And the fairies flying in the sky saved the night. The Tinkerbelle section was last, and too long. Ellis wanted to go home... until Tink hit the skies sprinkling Pixie Dust.
But then it ended. It was 9pm and an entire arena of cranky children filed out into the night. Two of those were mine. They quickly morphed into Cinderella's grumpy stepsisters. Whining and crying their way to the car. Then crying for thirty five minutes straight [well, Chase was.] "I want HOMIE. I want BROWNIE [her blanket]" Ellis would pipe in occasionally with "I want to go home. My bottom wants to get naked!"[She cracks me up!] And then she would go back to sucking her thumb. They fell asleep five minutes from home. Only to wake up crying when I turned off the engine. It was a long night.
